Built originally as two cottages and a granary the house was extended in the 1725 to create a farm producing Woodcocks for the wealthy local shoots, hence the name Cockliffe House and Cockliffe Woods surrounding it. It nestles within Burntstump Country Park in 3 acres of private gardens

When the Seeley family established their sprawling estate in the 1900’s they bought the farm due its proximity to Sherwood Manor.
It became a hunting lodge for their visiting guests with King Edward VIII and Winston Churchill amongst other notable visitors during the 1930’s and 1940’s. Many a party and occasion were celebrated at Cockliffe House during those years with the Seeley’s gaining a reputation for being incredibly generous and hedonistic hosts!
It became a commercial property in the early 1990’s when a training centre for commercial computers occupied it. In 1995 it was purchased privately and started to run as a restaurant with rooms which over the years grew into a successful multi-rosette business which started focusing more on weddings and events.

The addition of the Elliott Suite, a 2500 sq. ft purpose built banqueting suite in 2017 is the most significant improvement and has created a unique property in Nottingham which as well as being a highly popular wedding venue offers exclusive private dining, parties, and banqueting facilities in a truly stunning setting.
